9Mobile was formerly known as Etisalat Nigeria but then the company changed its name to the to what it is currently known as in 2017.
Etisalat Nigeria became 9Mobile after parting ways with its international partners, Etisalat International in 2017 in the wake of a crisis over a $1.2 billion loan package, which defied solutions.
While announcing the name change, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Boye Olusanya, in a statement, said the name represents its heritage and its evolution over nine years.
According to him: “Our new trading name, 9mobile represents our 0809ja heritage, our 9ja-centricity, and our evolution over 9 years of operations in Nigeria.”
9Mobile Data Plans
Now, having learnt a little about the history of 9Mobile, let’s get right into the business of the day; how to subscribe to the 9Mobile data plans of your choice.
9Mobile data plans are divided into two parts;
a. Internet bundles and
b. smartpaks
A – INTERNET BUNDLES
On its website, 9mobile indicates that data plans here are divided into many parts. There is the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans. There is also the 100GB plan and weekend plan. Let’s see them below.

Daily Plans
As the name implies, this data plan lasts for only 24 hours and there are currently two options namely; the 10mb plan which costs N50 and the 40mb plan which costs N100.
