With the popularity of many interesting streaming services which include but are not limited to Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, the next important question is how many devices can access contents using a single login detail at the same time.
This has become very important because unlike what you would get with your cable or satellite service, most people use their smartphones, tablets, and other portable devices to gain access to contents on the go. Because of this, the number of devices that you can use to access contents, whether you are using Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, is very important.
Above everything else, the number of devices that can be used to stream on any platform will depend on the type of subscription that one has.
Number of people who can stream at once on Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime
1. HULU
On-demand service:
- Base Contents- $7.99 per month
- Commercial-free contents- $11.99 per month
Live TV:
- $39.99 per month (Extra $14.99 for unlimited screens)
Although, there so many ways you can stream videos on Hulu, some of them are so compatible the company’s new cable TV alternative- Hulu Live TV, and there are limitations as to how many people or devices can stream from the same account at once. Hulu offers an on-demand online streaming service that allows it’s users to stream contents from the internet directly to their devices without any cable connection.
However, we are going to examine how many people can stream videos on Hulu at the same time as well as its available subscription plans.
(a). Standard plan: This plan is made up of two basic subscriptions namely; limited commercial plan and no commercial plan. The limited subscription plan allows you to watch and stream contents with a few commercial interruptions. This means that there will be advertisements from different brands while a show is still on. It costs $5.99 per month forn12 months and $7. 99 per month after 12 months. While the no commercial plan shares a similar feature with the limited commercial plan as it allows you to watch full content without any commercial interruptions. The means that there won’t be advertisement of any sort while the show is on. It costs $11.99 per month and also offers one month free Hulu subscription as bonus.
Apparently, the standard plan allows a one stream per account which means that you can log in to Hulu on as many devices as you can, but content can only be streamed on one device ie. just one person can stream at a time.
(b). Hulu Live TV Plan: This subscription plan allows you to access and enjoy live and on-demand contents from over 50 TV channels which include sports, entertainment, news and lots more. It also gives you unlimited access to the Hulu limited commercial plan including a 7 days free access.
However, the subscription allows you to stream on two devices at once. This means that two people stream videos from this account at the same time. It costs $11.99 per month.
(c). Hulu Unlimited Screen Add-on: This subscription plan allows you to stream from Hulu library and Live TV on an unlimited number of compatible devices when they are on the home network and three devices when they are outside the home network. This means that a lot of people can stream if they are on the home network, while it only allows three people who are not. This plan costs an extra $14.99 on top of your current existing subscription plan. With this extra add, all your family members and friends can stream different contents on different devices at once.
2. NETFLIX
- Basic subscription: $7.99 per month (One screen)
- Standard subscription: $10.99 per month (Two screens at once)
- Premium subscription: $14.99 per month (Four screens at once)
Netflix is also a video-on-demand streaming service that can be shared with many friends and family. Basically, it offers its users three streaming plans. Your choice of plan determines the number of devices or people you stream Netflix on simultaneously.
(a). Basic Netflix Plan: This subscription plan allows you to stream TV contents on one device at a time which often comes in standard definition. This means that the user can only stream on one device at a time. It doesn’t allow for more than one user to stream. It costs £5.99 per month.
(b). The Standard Netflix Plan: This subscription option allows you to stream or watch shows/movies simultaneously on two different devices in high definition at the same time. This means that only two people can stream videos through this plan at once. It also allows you download titles on two tablets or smartphones. It costs £7.99 per month.
(C). The Netflix Premium Plan: This subscription plan enables you to stream TV shows/films on four different devices in ultra-high definition if it’s available. This means that four people can stream videos from the same account on different devices at the same time. It also allows you to download titles to four smartphones and tablets. It costs £9.99 per month.
3. AMAZON PRIME
- Annual membership: $99 (this comes with all prime benefits)
- Monthly membership: $12.99
This is another video-on-demand service that features an Instant Prime Video which provides a lot of content that is completely available for streaming free as part of prime membership; Amazon Originals which produces Amazon Prime’s original contents; Prime Reading which provides access to over 1000 eBooks, comics and magazines etc.

Accordingly, it allows you to create an Amazon Household account with which two people preferably adults can stream with their own accounts each; plus four children. Although Amazon places a limit on the number of devices or people that can stream at the same time, it allows the user to stream about three different titles on different devices, but that same title can only be streamed on two different devices at once. This means two people can stream videos at the same time. It costs $99 for annual membership and $12.99 monthly.
