Asa was born in Nigeria on the 14th of August 1990, he grew up in Lagos where he moved to and attended private school. He confessed in an interview that all he knew about Nigeria he had to find out by himself, he didn’t go to a regular Nigerian school, he went to a private school that didn’t teach Nigerian curriculum, the Nigerian music, and all happening in his country he had to learn by himself to be able to relate with his mates and friends from other schools.
2. He got his first deal in high school
Asa struck his very first deal when he was in school, in his teens, when he organized a meeting between his musician friends and his uncle. For his sake they had something positive come out of the meeting, getting them a record deal. This would be the starting point of his career in the music industry. He went ahead to organize parties at different venues where artists like Dbanj, Bracket, 2short, and many others performed.
3. Asa Asika is the nephew of the famous Obi Asika
The famous Nigerian entrepreneur is the nephew of the CEO of Storm records, who is also in the music business with a long list of outstanding achievements in the music industry. Asa and his uncle get along so well, he says his uncle is a cool person and down to earth, always eager to help young talents in the music industry.
4. He dropped out of school
Asa dropped out of college to pursue his career. He revealed that even though education is good, there is a certain level of it for different individuals and he doesn’t think going all the way is for him for there are people who went all the way but are still looking for a job while some who didn’t attend school are making money and doing well.

He came a long way in the entertainment business after he first started working for his uncle Obi Asika at Storm 360 when he was still a young teenager. While he was there, he was said to have worked with some big names in the Nigerian music industry at the time including Sasha P who is arguably the greatest female rapper to have graced the country’s entertainment industry, El Dee, and Ikechukwu amongst others. He would go on to start his management company StarGaze Managemen Company in 2014. Before then, he had already managed people like Davido, R2Bees, and YQ.
In 2016, he started yet another company, The Plug Entertainment, which is now better known as The Plug.
6. Naeto C is his cousin
Asa and Obi are not the only famous members of the family who are into the music business in Nigeria. Another of his family member in the business is the award-winning Nigerian rapper, Naeto C. Born Naetochukwu Chikwe, Naeto C is actually his older cousin and is one of the many artists he has managed and influenced.
7. He worked with YQ before Davido
Even though he is mostly associated with Davido, the Assurance crooner wasn’t the first artist Asa worked with; it was actually YQ. At that time Asa was beginning to handle more responsibilities people and peers saw much potential in him so YQ requested that he manage him. Under Asa’s management, YQ made ‘I Like Girls’ and other good songs with decent features.
8. His relationship with Davido went sour at some point
Though Asa and his friend turned employer seemed to be getting on well, in January of 2013 the two had a fallout due to some issues of money and management. Before then, they had worked together for a number of years. Following the issue they had, Davido mentioned in one of his posts on social media that Asa was no longer his manager because he was not mature enough to handle some issues.
In 2017 they came back to work together stronger and better with mutual respect for each other, Asa went ahead to say that even though they were no longer working together, they still remained friends and made other businesses together.
9. A look at his relationship with DJ Cuppy
Asa Asika is not only known for managing some big names in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, but for also dating a big name; Florence Otedola who is better known as DJ Cuppy. Asika and Cuppy, who is a singer and disc jockey were first linked in 2018 when they made their relationship public. By 2020, it was reported that the relationship crashed.
According to the billionaire heiress, her relationship with Asika ended because she messed it up.
10. He is currently not married
Asa is yet to get married and he has not been seen with any girlfriend since his relationship with Cuppy came to an end.
There have been some reports that the music manager has a son whose name is Robi. The reports started after Asa made a post on social media, showing off the son with news that he was starting primary school. It remains unclear if Robi is his biological child and who the mother is.
