As against what most people would want to believe, only 24% of teenagers believe that it has any negative effects.

40% of those involved in the study have agreed that the main function of social media which is to keep people connected is the main positive effect it has. The idea here is that because it is able to help one in maintaining contact with family and friends that are far away, it is very important.

Although one of the main problems that people have with social media at the moment is that of fake news, teenagers believe that among the positive effects of social media is that it makes it easy for them to access information.
3. Meeting people with similar interests
15% of respondents believe that social media is highly needful because it makes it very easy for people to meet and communicate with people of similar or related interests. This is as a result of the availability of groups, forum, and other things provided for by social media.
4. Keeping you entertained
With a great number of teenagers indicating that YouTube, it makes a lot of sense that teenagers (9%) believe that one of the most important effects of social media is that it provides them with entertainment. Beyond just chatting, most social media allow for people to create and share multimedia files and play games.
5. Self Expression
Without any doubt, social media has allowed people to easily express themselves in the best way possible without any fear and intimidation.
6. Getting support from others
There are those who believe that social media doesn’t just allow you to connect with people from unknown places, but it also allows one to understand the problems of others and lend help either in the form of speaking up for them or in other ways.

Apart from the fact that it brings about a marriage of many cultures and ideologies, teenagers also believe that social media is important in helping them to learn different things from people they get to meet on social media as well as from the things that other create and share.
