One of the biggest phones today on the Nigerian Market is the Gionee A1. And that is what I am looking at today.
To get some perspective, Gionee has taken some time recently to keep hitting various great phones at us. So far, it has delivered on phones that have good specs, beauty, and a lot more that one could ask from a phone. For now, there is hardly any of their phones that is a match for the A1.
Today, I have decided to hit on the Gionee A1 review.

Design and Build of the Gionee A1
With this phone, it is clear that Gionee wants to hold the market in a very good way. The phone is designed in a way that it will last better than most others in the market.

Launched in 2017, the phone has a screen that has a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels for its 5.50-inch touchscreen display.
Although some may consider that the phone is generally bulky, I think all it has to offer is enough compensation in the design and functionality.
It comes with a metal back which is a promise that the phone will be durable. Unlike most phones with metal bodies, however, the phone is not very heavy.
Camera
If you are in the class of people who define a good phone by its camera or who loves selfie, this has something big to offer.
The Gionee A1 comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The front camera has a LED selfie flash so that at any time and no matter the darkness of the place you can snap your pictures.
The rear camera is also very good
With the camera, you can get to record 1080p videos, but that is where it stops as you cannot get 4K videos, which is not offered by most phones at this level.
Memory
With a RAM of 4 GB, the Gionee A1 offers a massive 32 GB internal memory. In this time of mobile movies that are coming heavy, if this is not enough for you, the phone also makes it possible to top the memory with a 256 GB capacity microSD.
Essentially, the phone can take what most laptops couldn’t take a few years back when they came with hard drives that were between 120 to 300 GB in size and RAMs of 2 GB at max.
Connectivity
Looking at the connectivity of the A1 delivers 4G LTE with VoLTE support. You also get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS/A-GPS.
It is a dual SIM phone that makes use of Nano card.
Software
Making use of Gionee’s custom Amigo 4.0 OS, the phone’s user interface is easy to customize and it is beautiful. More so, you get to easily multitask without much problem.
One interesting thing about the interface is that it is not as busy as you will get most others with plenty apps. Gionee makes sure that it is simple.
Battery
Phone of the very exceptional things about the Gionee A1 is the battery it features. The battery has a 4010 mAh battery capacity and it charges very fast in less than 2 hours.
With the capacity, you will be able to have it running for days when not on heavy usage. At the worst usage, you can get a little more than 9 hours. Trust me, that is a very good result because most others cannot survive 8 hours on the worst usage.
The best part as earlier stated is that it charges ultrafast.
Pros
- The design of the phone is a massive plus for it.
- Exceptional battery life
- Android 7.0 Nougat
- The phone has a good camera.
Cons
- It tends to get a little hot when gaming.
Verdict
At the end of the day, this is a phone that has a lot to offer people who like me, prefer phones that are a little bit bigger than normal, as well as people who need a phone that performs better than the average when it comes to camera performance and battery life.
