A Hindu holy man has to now keep living without his genitals after it was cut off when he attempted to rape a woman in her home.
The 54-year-old religious teacher was said to always visit the lady’s place where he was said to be performing some religious rituals for her father who has some health challenges and had been bedridden for years.
The incident happened at the 23-year-old woman’s house where she said the 54-year-old Sreehari, who is also known as Ganga Shashwatapada Swamy tried to rape her.
Confirming the reports, district police chief G Sparjan Kumar told AFP news agency that the Hindu holy man repeatedly visited the victim’s house to perform rituals for her father’s health and as he attempted to rape her, she used a knife to defend herself.
On her part, the woman who is a law student said she was at her residence in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram when she was attacked by the man. And this, she noted, was not the first time as he had been doing it for assaulting her for several years.
Already, charges have been leveled against the Guru for sexual offenses against a minor and rape, according to Kumar.
After the event, the police said the woman called the police herself, and she is now under the protection of the police and trauma counseling.
While commenting on the issue, Area Deputy Commissioner of Police Arul B Krishna told the Times of India that the police may “may also register a case against her mother for abetting the crime.”
This according to the police boss was because the woman was reported to have told her mother that the man had been assaulting her for a long time.

It was the mother who had invited the guru to cleanse any evil in the house.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old has got the commendation of many for showing the courage to defend herself. Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, is one among those who praised the young woman. “It was a courageous step, no doubt about it,” he said.
Interestingly, as reported by the IndiaToday, the claimed Hindu holy man has said he was the one who had chopped off his organ as it was not of any use to him. That, according to the paper is part of the statement he made to the police.
