Infinix Hot 5 made so much wave in December of 2017 and I thought to myself, “What was all that noise about?” And I guess you might have thought same too. So this is what we will do. Let’s throw the spotlight on this smartphone and feast on what we can find.

First, a little background story. Most people do not know that Infinix mobile has not been in the Android scene for long; unlike Nokia and Samsung who began this hustle back in the 1900’s. However, this brand is hell-bent on stealing the show. Infinix is a smartphone brand owned by a Hong Kong manufacturer. It came into the business in 2014 and has already found its way to over 30 countries in the world. Its fame spreads across the Middle East, Asia and most African countries including Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Morocco, Zambia, and our beloved Nigeria.

Infinix has different arrays of products; Zero, Note, Hot, Smart, and S3. The Hot series has been one of the fastest selling product of Infinix mobile. DESIGN

Infinix Hot 5 is quite portable. It measures 154.8 × 77.7 × 8.35mm and weighs 168 grams. It has a front glass and a plastic back made of 3D texture with multiple triangular patterns. It also comes in five different colors; Red, Fine Gold, White, Lemon, and my favorite Sandstone Black. Now that’s one ‘Hot’ phone.

DISPLAY

Hot 5 has an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 5.5 inches. It has a 267 PPI density with 720 × 1280 pixels resolution. It features three on-screen navigation buttons and large bezels at the top and bottom screen.

CAMERA

This phone has a single rear camera and a front camera. The back camera possesses an 8MP sensor, 1.12µm pixel resolution, autofocus, and a LED flash. The front camera has a 5MP sensor with another LED flash and 1.4µm pixel resolution. The camera has 5 internal lens elements and multiple shooting modes. Image sizes for the front and rear camera measures a maximum of 3072 × 1728 and 3840 × 2160 respectively.

PROCESSOR

Infinix Hot 5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6580chipset with Quad-core 1.3GHz processor. It also runs on an XOS 2.2 skin laid over and Android 7.0 (Oreo) Nougat.

It has a memory capacity of 2GB RAM with a 16GB internal space which can be expanded up to 32GB (micro SD).

This smartphone comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery. Plus a fast charge technology support.

Thus far, the most attractive feature of the Infinix Hot 5 is its battery. It has a huge capacity of 4000mAh units. A single complete charge supports it for at least a day under heavy usage and it offers 4 hours of talk time from 5 minutes charge. Okay! Let’s admit… that is quite impressive. Imagine fiddling with your phone all day, playing games, surfing the internet, posting pictures on Instagram, chatting on Whatsapp, watching YouTube videos, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and your battery life is still intact. Wow! And to think that it’s charging time is only a few minutes, now that’s a trailblazer.

One other cool fact about this phone is that it has an enhanced sound system. It has two front speakers with Dirac 3D stereo technology. Top notch I must say. A combo of Hot 5’s fantastic stereo sounds and large 5.5 inches IPS display avails a widescreen viewing experience. Little wonder it’s dubbed “The Mobile Cinema”.

The Cons

However, a major setback with this device is that it does not offer 4G LTE network bands. The processor and storage space are also regular. The camera may not also be extraordinary but its 8 megapixels rear camera produces good quality images. Its 5MP front camera can still cover for selfie time. I think this will do for a regular user except you have a thing for photography.

Wait! Infinix Hot 5 is a hottie. It has a fantastic plastic design which comes in a variety of colors to meet the taste of all customers. You may also want to check out the fingerprint scanner.
