Instagram which happens to be one of the world’s most popular social media platforms at the moment, has made it possible to know the amount of wasted time you actually spend using the app. Instagram is making this possible through it’s activity dashboard, a new feature it recently launched called “Your Activity”.
Instagram had originally announced the project earlier this year, but has only just launched it now on the app. This new feature is designed to show the many users of the platform just how much time they spend inside the app every day. It also displays the weekly average amount of time spent.

In fact, users of the app can even set daily time limits. These time limits will help to remind users to take time off the platform from time to time. Apparently, this feature will be helpful to all those who have a really hard time doing anything other than going through Instagram to post selfies and other images.
To find the new tool, you will have to click on the icon in the top right corner of your profile page and then proceed to “Your Activity”. Apparently, the new tool has been designed to address the problem of spending too much time just using social media. It is no doubt that this has become a major issue around the world with youngsters who just can’t stop using social media to focus on other things in real life.
Just last year, Instagram was ranked as the most damaging social media for the well-being and health of young people. The introduction of this new tool is obviously a move to help these young people manage their time some more.
It is noteworthy that this new tool has not been designed only to find out how much time you spend on Instagram and set daily limits, it has also been designed to help users mute their notifications temporarily. Of course, this should help to reduce the usual desperate urge to use the app every time.
Earlier this year in August, Facebook and Instagram both announced that they would soon give people more control over the total amount of time they spend using the social media platforms. They promised to do this with the introduction of the dashboards.
Instagram has now fulfilled the promise.
Facebook has not yet rolled out its own dashboard which is called “Your Time On Facebook”. However, with this launch of Instagram “Your Activity”, it is safe to assume that it won’t be long before Facebook follows suit.
