Before 2011 when she turned 18, it was the United States’ Bridgette Marie Jordan who maintained the Guinness World Record of the smallest woman there was in the world with 2 ft 3in (69 cm) height. However, Jyoti claimed the title and has maintained it for almost a decade now. Also, she was the world’s smallest teenager in 2009. She has reported to be happy that she has been able to make it to the Guinness World Record.
Of course, Jyoti was born a normal person and had normal growth up until she turned two. Upon the discovery of her stunted growth, she was declared to be suffering from achondroplasia that would cause her abnormality in growth and would let her not grow taller than 2 feet 1 inch (0.64 m).
Even though her size would cause her limitations in a few things, she was able to live a pretty normal life of going to school, but not without a custom made desk, chair, and other things of course. Almost all through her lifetime, she gets weird stares that make her uncomfortable that she would cover her face with a veil.
Due to her size that is peculiar to her, she does not shop for clothes like other people but gets customized clothes, jewellery, and even cutleries.

Before 2013, the world’s shortest people in both categories of men and women never met. Jyoti changed that in 2013 when she met Chandra Bahadur Dangi, the world’s shortest man who stands at 21.51 in (54.64 cm).
She further met several other Guinness World Record holders such as the tallest man, Sultan Kosen who stands at (8 ft 2.82 in) tall.
Actualising her dream in acting and in both India and the United States, she has made several friends that include Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, and Evan Peters.
