Merve Dibo is a Syrian-born woman who became quite famous after she made the decision to get married to Turkish farmer and tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen. Kosen found himself on the Guinness World Record for more reasons than one. He was certified the tallest man living, by Guinness World Records in 2009 and he also holds the record for longest feet and hands.
Who is Merve Dibo?
It was sometime in the early 1990s that Merve Dibo was born in her hometown of Hasaki, Syria. It was also there that she was brought up. With little to no information regarding how she was brought up and her family, it is known that she had never been to Turkey before her journey to meet her husband.
More so, she only speaks Arabic. Hence, after moving to Turkey where she now lives with her husband, they struggled to communicate since neither of them fully understood the other’s language.
Her marriage to Sultan Kosen
Merve Dibo and Sutan first met through a mutual friend at a time when she was in Syria while he was in Turkey. She had to travel all the way from Syria just to meet with her heartthrob for the first time. Even though many women in the past found it hard to fall in love with Sultan because of his height, Merve revealed that she fell in love with him almost instantly because of his heart and she was not bothered about his height.
After dating for only about 3 months, the couple tied the knot in Mardin, Turkey, on October 27, 2013, when Kosen, was 30 years old while Merve was only 21 years old. Many people thought it was a brave move on her part, considering how she was discouraged by several people not to go ahead with the wedding.
Their wedding was well attended by about 1500 guests including dignitaries like the president and the prime minister of Turkey, other Turkish politicians, businessmen, and also a representative from Guinness world records.
Does she have children?
During their wedding ceremony in Turkey, Merve and Sultan made it known that they wished to build a beautiful home together and have 2 children. We do not know if they were able to have this dream fulfilled as they hardly share anything about their married life with the public.
They have been married for about 8 years now and we do hope that soon enough, we get to know about their children (if they have any) and when they decide to let us into that aspect of their lives, we do hope to meet the children too.
Sultan Kosen’s Effort At Finding Love Before He Found Merve Dibo
Before he met Dibo, the tallest man in the world revealed that it was extremely difficult for him to get women to love him because they consider him to be too tall for them. Among the only 10 men in the world to go above 8 feet tall, Sultan revealed that women are always not very comfortable around him.
Initially, as a child growing up, Kosen was also not very happy with his height and was always shy because other kids used to make fun of him. Hence, just as women were not comfortable with him, he was also not very comfortable with himself. However, he later learned to accept himself.
There was a time in his life when he gave up on finding love even though his biggest dream was to have a woman that would love him and agree to marry him. The dream became a reality when Merve finally agreed to become his wife.

She is also a Muslim like her husband
According to some sources, both Merve and her husband are Muslims. This is however not too surprising considering the fact that Turkey has the majority of its population being Muslim.
She is 2 ft 7 in shorter than him
Merve Dibo is by no means a short woman, standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall. However, she is very short standing beside her over 8 feet tall husband. She is reportedly as much as 2 feet 7 inches shorter than her husband.
