Let’s explain how it all started. Once upon a time, in June 2006, one Yoruba dude like that by name Ademola Ogundele opened the site as a personal blog. You know a space for all his rants and plenty talk. One day he posted a clip of Nigerian artist 9ice’s performance at Nelson Mandela’s 90th-anniversary concert.
Back then, Mr 9ice was one of the big boys in music. That single post became the big break for Ademola. It generated massive traffic on the site. Before we could say “Youdonminit” NotjustOk evolved into a music website. The site currently boasts of approximately 1.2million viewers from several countries across the world.
NotjustOk is now being managed by Ademola Ogundele and Ovie Ofugara. It was voted “Best Nigerian Music Website” at the City People Entertainment Awards four consecutive years; 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. It was given the “Blog of the Year” award at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2013. Also in 2014, the site was awarded “Best Music Blog” by the Black Weblog Awards. Wawu! That’s some accolades!
Now, Uncle Ademola has become a philanthropist and is giving out free music to his fellow Naija People. We’ve had our fair share of the bonanza. Go and grab your own now. And, because we’re being extra nice today, we will equally let you in on other websites where you can download free Nigerian songs and video.
