Npower Nigeria is an initiative by the Nigerian government that seeks to provide a means of empowering Nigerian youths through asocial investment programme that would lead to job creation. The aim of the programme which was introduced by the Muhammadu Buhari led government is to reduce unemployment in the country and guide youths towards job creation.
What is Npower Nigeria?
As stated above, Npower is a social investment programme designed by the Nigerian government that seeks to provide employment and a channel for job creation. The programme is designed to cover a number of areas as it is open to people who are educated in areas of animation, building technology, artisan, hardware development and repairs, programming, and much more. The programme is in different areas:
- Npower Health
- Npower Teach
- Npower Tech Software
- Npower Agro
- Npower Build
- Npower Creative
- Npower Tax/Vaids
Divided into the graduate and non-graduate categories, the idea of N-Power was to provide get over 75 thousand Nigerian youths to be gainfully engaged in one sector or the other.
Basic requirements for N-Power recruitment
If you are interested in registering for N-power, there are certain requirements that you need to meet whether you are a graduate or not. The first is that one must be a Nigerian citizen between the ages of 18 to 35. Also, here are other important conditions you will need to meet before you can be recruited.
- For each programme you are interested in, there is a minimum requirement that needs to be met most especially if you are going for programmes in the graduate category.
- You will need to indicate your true interest in whatever programme you are applying for.
- There is a test which you will need to pass. It is a computer-based test which can be done anywhere.
- You must show some level of skills in your preferred area of choice and the willingness to push further.
Registration Process for N-Power Nigeria
The registration process is open annually for individuals who are interested and who are qualified and have met the minimum requirements. Before starting the registration process proper, here are things you need to have readily available:
- Correct name and profile including Nationality and Place and date of birth
- Active phone number and e-mail address
- Your CV
- Bank verification number (BVN)
- Passport data
- All necessary educational details.
After having all those ready, it is time to register for the Npower Nigeria by going to the official website of Npower Nigeria and following the steps below:
- Go to N-Power Programmes and select the category you want, either graduate or non-graduate.
- Under Non-graduate category, you can select either N-power knowledge or N-power build.
- Undergraduate category there are programs such as N-power Agro, N-power Health, N-power Teach, and N-power Tax among others. Select the one you want.
- Click on Apply Now button. If the process is on, you will see the button.
- In the next page, put in your bio-data and follow the process to the last.
- Make sure you use a correct and active email because you will be reached through it.
- Ensure to also upload your documents as requested including your CV, passport, educational certificates, NYSC certificate, and anything else that is required.
Once you are able to follow the process correctly, you will be sent a confirmation letter to your email. After the confirmation email, you will also receive a letter from N-power ahead of the selection process. Once you have been selected for the program, you will receive a congratulatory email towards that effect and then from here, you can wait for further details.

Those selected for the program will work as volunteers while they are also trained for a period of 2 years within which they will be paid 30 thousand naira allowance each month. There are some programs in the Npower Nigeria that will have you trained for a specific duration.
Details on the different N-power Programmes
Npower Nigeria
It is important to know that all the programs are only open to unemployed Nigerian youths who are between the ages of 18 and 35. All the programs will last for the same duration (2 years) and all participants will be paid the same allowance.
For programmes that are open to graduates, you must have completed your mandatory NYSC programme before you can apply and be eligible to be selected.
- Npower Health: Participants are trained as public health assistants who would learn to teach preventive health to different community members such as pregnant women, families, children, and individuals. Participants here have to be graduate who are interested in public health.
- Npower Teach: Also open for graduates, participants work as teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools. Their job is to support teachers and provide assistance in the process of teaching.
- Npower Tech Software: Available for both graduates and non-graduates, this programme is aimed at training youths to become developers. Participants are trained for 11 weeks and they would be exposed to things like the foundational software tools among other things. To participate in the programme, you should be willing to undertake self-tutorship among other things.
- Npower Agro: Participants here are trained to work as intermediaries between researchers and farmers. They help farmers to make the right decision by making sure they get the right information and informing them on the available technology to use. This is open to only graduates of any field.
- Npower Build: This is open to both graduates and undergraduates with focus on building services, construction, aluminum and gas, built environment services, automotive, and utilities. It aims to build a workforce for the building sector.
- Npower Creative: Also for graduates and non-graduates, this is open to train participants in Animation, graphic design, script writing, and other creative sectors. Participants here are trained for 3 months.
- N-Power Hardware: For both graduates and undergraduates, the program seeks to get computer technicians for the ICT industry. Participants would be trained in the areas of servicing and manufacturing computer devices and other mobile technology.
