If you are planning to mess with any birds, just make sure it is not the Ravens, because they remember and keep scores. Or at least that is what scientists want me to tell you.
According to the scientists, the birds were able to remember when scientists tricked and played a fast one on them. This has revealed a very important aspect of the lives of the birds.
The finding which was made by a team of Austrian and Swedish scientists is said to be very significant as it opens up the social dynamics of the birds even as the research wasn’t all big.
After running a test on nine captivity-bred Ravens, it was found that the blackbirds which are mostly associated with bad omen were more likely to work with people who have not cheated them or done them wrong.
Speaking to Gizmodo, one of the researchers, Matthias Loretto, from the University of Vienna said “We see many aggressive interactions and socially positive interactions” in the wild birds.
The study was all about understanding the memory of the birds as it relates to fairness. This has to do with whether they are able to remember positive or negative interactions.
After they were trained to exchange bread for cheese, which the scientists found to be their a preferred snack, they were observed for months.
Two days and two months later, a new set of trial was conducted. In that, each raven was given bread and presented three experimenters—the fair one, the unfair one, and one they hadn’t seen before.

It was found that at both later trials, all the birds except 2 remembered and picked the fair experimenter. This clearly showed that the birds remembered these single negative experiences.
The team published their result recently in the journal Animal Behaviour.
On the intelligence of the bird, it has been said that it “is possibly its most winning feature. Indeed, these birds can be trained to speak. This speaking ability leads into the legend of Ravens being the ultimate oracle.”
