Biography of the Singer
Dunsin Oyekan was born on 5 November 1984 in the capital of Kwara State, Ilorin in North central Nigeria.
He was born as an only son into a Christian home. His father, the late Gbadebo Timothy Oyekan was born in 1948 and served as the General Overseer of the Evangelical Baptist Church before his demise in 2015 at the age of 66 years.
Pastor Gbadebo encouraged his son to take the path of Christianity. By the time the younger Oyekan was around 8 years old, his father had started taking him to Minister’s conferences among several other key functions of the Church.
At the age of 10, Dunsin started playing the guitar, and it marked the beginning of his journey into music that would lead to his becoming famous.
Dunsin Oyekan’s Education
The music act attended Airforce Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin. Afterward, he went to Federal Government College, Ilorin, and later the Baptist Model High School in the same town.
After he obtained his O’level certificate, Dunsin then went to the University of Ilorin and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry.
What Does Dunsin Oyekan Do?
Oyekan juggles different things with respect to his career. He sings, writes songs, leads worship, plays several musical instruments, and produces music.
Looking into his career in the music industry, he initially wanted a different career path for himself until his father one day encouraged him to become a minister. While he did not want to go with the advice of his father, he heard a loud and clear voice that told him the same word his father had said.
From singing in Choir and leading several worships, Oyekan then started recording and releasing his own music.
In 2016, the Ilorin-born singer released a 14-track album titled Code Red. He then went ahead to release several other songs that have landed in the spot of the most renowned gospel singers in Nigeria.
At the time of this writing, he has released no fewer than 5 albums.
More into his music career, Oyekan is the convener of Upper Room, a weekly worship experience. He also heads a revival meeting and annual worship experience, The Outpouring, and Code Red respectively.
Furthermore, he was once a music director of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) The Avalanche choir.
He has shared the same stage with notable singers such as Nathaniel Bassey, Tasha Cobbs, Byron Cage, Joe Mettle, and Don Moen.

In 2022, Dunsin celebrated the memory of his late wife. Although pained by her death, it has been revealed that rather than dwelling only in his pain and mourning, he chose to celebrate her and give thanks for her existence and demise.
